In this activity, students were learning about the different stages of
digestion. First, students were asked to place a cracker in their mouth
for 3 minutes. Within that time, the cracker disappeared due to the
saliva. Students then mimicked the mouth by using a fork (teeth) and
water (saliva) to break down the food creating a suspension. Lastly,
students transferred the suspension to a plastic bag which was designed
to mimic the stomach and turn the suspension into a solution.
